‘Old viewing figures GTST will not return’

Caroline de Bruijn does not expect Good Times Bad Times to ever become the linear ratings hit it was. “The whole television landscape has of course changed a lot,” she says.

In its heyday, the RTL 4-soap Good Times Bad Times attracted more than two million linear viewers per evening, but that has declined rapidly in recent years. Meanwhile, the soap series is no longer such a great success. For example, yesterday only 674 thousand people watched the broadcast at eight o’clock in the evening, not that impressive.

Not feasible anymore

GTST actress Caroline de Bruijn does not expect the soap series to ever regain its old viewing figures. “The whole television landscape has of course changed a lot in the last thirty years, with all the new channels and all the possibilities to look back or forward,” she explains in the statement. AD.

The actress continues: “The figures in the millions from before are therefore probably no longer feasible. It was indeed a bit less, but now we are all walking with big heads because there is cake from RTL every time.”

Spicy set days

Caroline is now not thinking about turning her back on GTST. However, she sometimes doubted it. “Our set days start at 7 a.m. and then you sometimes have to push a button. You can’t afford to take it easy for a while, you have to ‘turn on’ right away.”

She’s glad she never left. “The atmosphere between them is very relaxed, even though they work hard. It is not for nothing that many people who have left want to return to the series after a while. Bas Muijs recently returned as Stefano. It feels a bit like home.”
