Old funerals: Buffon in tears, Ancelotti in the funeral home

Tears and emotion for the last farewell to a great master. A hundred people, this morning in the church of Fellegara (municipality of Scandiano, in the province of Reggio Emilia), accompanied the last trip of Villiam Vecchi. The former goalkeeper of Milan, Cagliari, Como and Spal, then coach of generations of goalkeepers, left last Wednesday at the age of 73. At the funeral here is Gigi Buffon with his face streaked with tears. Together with him Tassotti, still under contract with Genoa, Luca Bucci, Cristiano Lucarelli, Giovanni Mauri (Vecchi’s workmate at Milan and Real Madrid), Daniele Tognaccini, former AC Milan athletic trainer. But the name of Vecchi, a true AC Milan player, is also linked to that of Carlo Ancelotti, of whom he was a goalkeeper coach for twenty years. And so the Real Madrid coach showed up yesterday at the funeral home in Reggio Emilia for the last farewell to his long-time friend. A quick blitz: he stayed for half an hour with Vecchi’s wife and children, and then attended alone in front of the coffin. Together with Ancelotti, his son Davide, part of the Real Madrid staff and Emilio Butragueno, the director of institutional relations of the Spanish club. In all, a delegation of 6 people to pay tribute to Villiam who had worked at Real for two years.
