The second fire was the one in which the fire brigade was pelted. The third around 1.45 am at the Europarei.
The affected car was burned out and a car parked next to it was damaged, a police spokesperson said. “There are signals that this is arson.”
It is not yet known whether they have filed a report and the police will take action. Ultimately, the riot police were deployed to disperse the rioters – according to residents, about 15 to 25 of them -.
More often restless during New Year’s Eve in Zijdelwaard
It is yet another New Year’s Eve that is getting out of hand in the Zijdelwaard district of Uithoorn. In private Facebook groups, residents wonder whether the municipality could have done more to prevent things from getting so out of hand.
“Every year the question is what will be set on fire or what will be demolished,” someone responds. “It happens every year, it makes me despondent,” someone else writes with photos of the devastation in daylight.
