Olcay Gulsen turns out to be a relentless girl in love. During her relationship with Ruud de Wild, he received a cancer diagnosis and there was a stoma for a while. “She didn’t want that.”
Ruud de Wild was diagnosed with colon cancer at the beginning of 2021, which turned his life upside down. After a very intensive treatment process and surgery, he has now been declared cancer-free, but the impact was enormous. It was extra difficult for him that his then girlfriend Olcay Gulsen could not provide the support he obviously needed.
‘No stoma please!’
You may wonder whether it is chic, but Ruud now reveals that Olcay was quite selfish during his treatment process. “I got cancer and then I heard: ‘You’re getting a stoma, we’re going to tear everything out. We don’t know how far it has spread,’” he says in the SBS 6 show It was 2 fantastic days.
“I was completely lost because I thought: I’m getting a stoma and my girlfriend at the time didn’t want that. She said: ‘Yes, I don’t want a man with a stoma’, which I also understand.”
‘Sorry?!’
Fellow guest Caroline van der Plas cannot believe Olcay’s attitude. “Sorry?!”
Estelle Cruijff, also a guest in the celebrity crying show, then: “Yes, but if it affects your health… Yes, sorry…”
Caroline: “What?! I find this really bizarre.”
Ruud: “Yes, it is fair. Fair. I ended up with Jurriaan and then he said – I will never forget it: ‘Why are you alone?’ Because I didn’t dare. I thought: I’m not going to take her with me, because then the relationship will already be over.”
Not a stupid one after all
Ultimately, a stoma may not have been necessary after all, as it turned out when Ruud was seeing the doctor. “It was like: just tell me when the operation is, bring on the stoma and then I can get on with my life.”
“Then he said: ‘Which stoma? What are you talking about? We’re not there yet.’ ‘I’m getting a stoma, right?’ ‘No, I’m going to tear everything out and I’m going to make sure you can do without a stoma. Do you dare to take that route?’ Yes, really bizarre. I now live an ordinary life.”
Credit card
Olcay’s attitude was not only received with bewilderment in the celebrity crying show, but also at the table at Today Inside. “That Olcay doesn’t want a man with a stoma, but a man with a credit card,” shouts Johan Derksen.
And colleague Wilfred Genee: “That is quite intense.”
