According to WomenInc, an organization that works for equal opportunities and rights, it is important that more female street names are added. “Street names are very visible in the public domain and people take something like this unconsciously. If a street name is named after you, you have usually done something special. Streets therefore also have a certain status,” says Cécile Wansink of WomenInc. “If only men have street names, you unconsciously send the message that it is mainly men who do or have done something special. That is of course not true.”
