It was yesterday on the edge of the Victorie Park statue of Trijn Rembrands revealed. Initiator and writer Simone van der Vlugt did this together with mayor Anja Schouten. The three-meter-high statue was made by artist Elisabet Stienstra.

Crazy cool

The statue shows two versions of Trijn: one from 1573, cast in bronze, and one from the present, made of stainless steel. Josefien de Wit from Alkmaar was the model for the modern face. Quite an honor: “Yes, then I will be there. Bizarrely cool,” she says to media partner Regional city Central.

Mayor Schouten emphasizes the broader meaning of the image. “Trijn symbolizes courage, determination and solidarity. It is not just about her, but about all girls and women who stand up in difficult times.”
