Injury shock a few days before the octagon spectacle in Cologne: The “Neanderthal” Frederic Vosgröne has to cancel the fight at short notice.
Oktagon 78 in Cologne has to take place without Frederic Vosgröne. The MMA fighter announced this on his YouTube channel on Thursday evening.
“Unfortunately, I still have to make a video: I have to cancel the fight on Saturday in Cologne,” said the blonde: “It’s also very difficult for me and I’m sorry, but I’ve been out of action since last Wednesday. And unfortunately it hasn’t gotten any better.”

The reason for the cancellation is a torn muscle fiber in his left calf, which he suffered “probably last Wednesday during training”: “On Thursday I could hardly walk and went to the doctor.”
Vosgröne is in “severe pain”
At first he assumed it was a strain, but attempts were made to contain the injury with medication and injections. “We assumed that things would get better by Monday at the latest.” But the “severe pain” remained. An MRI ultimately revealed the final diagnosis.
“It’s gotten a little better now, but still I can’t do anything with my leg,” said the MMA fighter.
Vosgröne actually wanted to fight against Samuel Chavarria from Honduras, who has so far remained undefeated in six professional fights.
One of the highlights at Oktagon 78 will be the fight between Christian Eckerlin and Ivica Truscek. In addition, Germany’s strongest MMA fighter gets into the cage – for the fourth time this year. After starting her career in March, Alina Dalaslan will now compete against the experienced Katharina Lehner just 29 days after her last win in Frankfurt.
Last but not least, the fans in Cologne can look forward to a bantamweight title fight when Igor Severino takes on Khurshed Kakhorov.
