While the summer vacation has really started, the emergency building of OBS de Hekakker is being built in Norg. The primary school is temporarily moving to the Brinkhofweide because the current building will be demolished.
“Everything is on schedule. The emergency building is delivered in the second week of the school holiday,” says school director Han Kemker. “Then we can move.”
Moving needs time, because all school supplies will come from the old building. That is why the students’ summer holidays will be three days longer. Kemker: “Everything is now ready for the move. A moving company will transfer everything as soon as possible.”
Then you can start with the demolition of the old school. According to the director, this is expected to start in October.
Not everyone is happy with the chosen place of the emergency building. Neighboring Café Zwaneveld has lodged an objection to the municipality because they expect a primary school as a neighbor to be bad for the company.
Earlier, the municipality of Noordenveld wrote that construction started with construction due to the great social interest. As far as we know, the objection will be dealt with on 2 September.
In 2023 there was already talk of a new building for OBS de Hekakker. At the time, the big question was where the new school would come. When it became clear that it returned to the same place, the search for temporary accommodation began.
The original plan was in the building of the Dr. Nassaucollege, because that would be released. But because their intended relocation was canceled, it dropped out. In the end, a temporary location on the Brinkhofweide turned out to be the best (emergency) solution.
De Hekakker stays in the temporary housing for at least a year. If all goes well, the new building is finished in December 2026, according to Kemker, it could be moved during the Christmas or spring break of that school year.
