After the first two episodes, the rest of the 6 will be broadcast on a weekly basis starting from Wednesday 1 June, with the third. But what do we know on one of the most anticipated miniseries of the year?

Obi-Wan Kenobi: the plot of the series

I’m 10 years have passed since when Obi-Wan Kenobi and the now corrupt Anakin Skyalker faced off in a duel near-deadly final, in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. The Jedi order is virtually destroyed, and the survivors are forced into hiding and forced not to communicate with each other.

It is no exception Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor), who lives a rather lonely life. And, even more serious, he is no longer able to use the Force – that is, essentially, he has lost the Faith.

Its only link with the past is represented by little Luke Skywalker (Grant Feely), one of the two children, the other is Leia, fruit of the forbidden love between Anakin and Padmé Amidala. The future Jedi was entrusted to Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, unaware of its origins it grows on the planet Tatooine.

Obi-Wan has to watch his back though, the Empire headed by Palpatine wants to exterminate all the Jedi survivors. The hunt is entrusted to Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen) and two fearsome figures who answer to the name of Reva (Moses Ingram), inquisitor, e the very bad Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend).

The word to the protagonists

On the series directed by Deborah Chowformer director of some episodes of The Mandalorian, little news leaked in addition to the official synopsis. But during a press conference with both present Chow is Ewan McGregor (along with other cast members) some revelations have surfaced.

“The goal was to turn an established Jedi into alonely exile that we have learned about thanks to Alec Guinness in the first film of the saga shot in 1977 – said Ewan. A very important step that acts as a glue between the prequel trilogy and the original one“.

Adding: «Hayden Christensen could not be missing in this series which, in the prequel trilogy, it was Anakin Skywalker. We were really close at the time, and getting to work together again was wonderful. We hadn’t heard from each other for years, but time was suddenly reset to zero ».

Also attended the presentation Moses Ingramhighly anticipated in the role of villain Reva who described as “A really smart, aggressive woman and always ten steps ahead of everyone. After all, his boss is Darth Vader! As a character I was very curious above all the ardor he is capable of, and I must admit that being on the side of the bad guys is a blast“.

Will there be other Jedi?

At the moment, no one else is confirmed as well as Obi-Wan Kenobi. However we know that some Knights survived, the hope is that they can reappear in the series. Which, among other things, is quite predictable given the tendency of the franchise to “reuse” beloved characters from the saga created by Lucas. But who could return to the scene?

Primarily Yoda, even if in the timeline of the history is in exile on the planet of Dagobah – but the wise little Jedi is capable of communicate even over a long distance using the Force.

And then there is Ahsoka TanoAnakin Skywalker’s padawan already appeared in The Mandalorian (he played it Rosario Dawson). The presence of him is perhaps the most likely, since one is in the works spin-off series dedicated exclusively to her, coming soon in 2023. So one of his cameo in Obi-Wan Kenobi it could be the right way to fuel the wait for its stand-alone even more.

A bad droid

Another very clever move, to create suspense among the millions of fans around the world, was to show in the official trailer a droid not exactly friendly. But with the features of C-3PO.

His name is 1-JAC, he can be seen holding laser guns as he battles Obi-Wan in Daiyu, a new planet that looks like a neon megalopolis. And reminiscent of the dystopian sets of Blade Runner. Entirely colored black, and with an infrared green eye, 1-JAC looks just right the dark version of C-3PO.
