Oberliga West 1950/51: Schalke 04 replaces BVB as series champions

New in database

Another milestone has been added to the transfer market database. After the seasons 1947/48, 1948/49 and 1949/50, the 1950/51 season of the Oberliga West can now also be viewed in full. FC Schalke 04 became champions, replacing rivals Borussia Dortmund as serial winners after three titles in a row. The “Knappen” got 18 wins and six draws from 30 games. In addition, a Royal Blue was also at the top of the scorers list, as nobody scored as often as Hans Kleina: 23 times in 29 appearances.

Like the second-placed Preussen Münster, Schalke made it into the final round of the German championship, but both clubs lost out. When Schalke finished in the group stage, Munster made it into the final against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, who won 2-1 after falling behind.
