Oberliga Nord 1981/82: Werder’s amateurs are champions – Neubarth ensures Concordia class

New in the database

Another milestone has been added to the transfer market database. The 1981/82 season of the Oberliga Nord can now be viewed in its entirety. The amateurs of SV Werder Bremen became champions with a one-point lead over Arminia Hannover. Since the green-whites were not entitled to promotion, the Lower Saxony took part in the promotion games to the 2nd Bundesliga, where they were eliminated in the preliminary round. Werder, on the other hand, fought for the amateur championship and reached the final, but lost there to Mainz 05.

Concordia secured relegation that season – and then had to let Frank Neubarth move towards Bremen. The then 19-year-old, who came from the youth of Concordia, recommended himself in the season with 14 goals in 34 games. To this day, the former striker is fourth among the record goalscorers in Werder history.

The top scorers back then were Harald Snater (Göttingen 05) and Wilfried Feldhaus (Werder) with 20 goals each. Günter Hermann, Rainer Zobel, Ralf Sievers, Joachim Philipkowski, Jürgen Gronau, Hans-Jürgen Bargfrede and Andreas Köpke also left their mark at that time.
