Obama’s Personal Chef (45) Found in Lake Died in Accident | Abroad

The death of Tafari Campbell, the former personal chef of former US President Barack Obama, who was killed while paddle boarding in a lake on Martha’s Vineyard in late July, was an accident. That says a Massachusetts official on Tuesday local time.

According to Timothy McGuirk, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, the cause of death was accidental drowning.

Campbell was paddle boarding on the lake in Edgartown Great Pond on Martha’s Vineyard, near a home owned by the Obamas, in late July when he ran into trouble and disappeared underwater. The search continued for two days for the chef, whose body was eventually found about 30 meters from the coast at a depth of 2.4 meters.

Tafari was a sous chef at the White House and came to work for the family after Barack Obama completed his second term as president of the United States in 2016. At the time of his death, Campbell, who lived in Virginia, was visiting Martha’s Vineyard, but the Obamas were not there at the time.

The chef is survived by his wife Sherise and twin sons.
