Noel Gallagher denies Bond rumors, but would agree “immediately”. What’s behind the speculation – all the details.
Noel Gallagher has responded to reports that his band Oasis could contribute the theme song to the new James Bond project. Recently, British newspaper The Sun reported that Oasis would be at the top of Amazon MGM’s wish list for the new Bond theme song. Now Gallagher himself commented on the speculation.
Oasis soon to be heard on the new Bond soundtrack?
On January 5, 2025, he was asked about the rumors on “Talkspot” and quickly came up with a clear answer: “This James Bond thing? What, Oasis? No.” Nevertheless, he expressed interest in recording a Bond song. “Should Oasis do that? Absolutely. Of course. It would be an absolute honor and I think things like this should be done by Brits, not Americans.”
The songwriter confirmed that there had been no contact between the Bond producers and the band so far. He also joked that he would be interested in taking on the role of a “villain from Manchester” in the new film.
His brother Liam Gallagher also spoke out about the Bond rumors in December 2025. He commented on a post on It now seems clear that there was no seriousness in this statement.
Noel Gallagher has previously spoken of a Bond song
Back in 2008, the musician spoke about the possibility of recording a Bond song. At the time, he told NME that he had “written a few Bond theme songs.” At this point, too, he expressed his displeasure that such songs were mostly contributed by Americans and not Brits: “It’s a bit ridiculous that the greatest British agent of all time has to be accompanied by a soundtrack made up of nothing but damn Americans.”
In 2015, the now 58-year-old commented on the topic again. He would record the song for the film “immediately”. In 2017, Paul Weller also announced that he and Noel Gallagher had already written “half” of a possible 007 track.
In 2019, Liam Gallagher also expressed his interest in recording a piece for James Bond. The producers “could call us, why not”. He also met Barbara Broccoli, the film producer of the series, for initial discussions in 2017.
New bond in 2026
The studio took creative control of the Bond series and announced the new spin-off from director Denis Villeneuve for 2026. Who will play the lead role or produce the title song is still up in the air.
