NVWA issues seven fines during Zuidlaardermarkt

During the horse market in Zuidlaren, the NVWA, the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority, handed out seven fines yesterday. Six of them have been handed out for an attempted illegal export. The other is for not having compulsory documents.

The six fines for the attempted illegal export have been handed out because the horses were not provided with a mandatory health certificate. In addition to the fines, two warnings have also been issued for not being able to show a transport permit and horse passport.

The welfare team also removed a horse from the market because it was showing signs of stress. Veterinarians from the organization of the horse market have also carried out checks themselves. They set aside a shetland because it had diarrhea.

During the Zuidlaardermarkt, the largest horse market in Europe, just over 1,000 animals are offered for sale.
