At the wrong time, in the wrong place. That applied to Marleen Vanderkimpen (63) on Thursday evening. The woman was having a drink at the Oudenaarde Christmas market when the meter-high Christmas tree snapped and fell straight on her. She was resuscitated until she reached the hospital, but she did not survive. “We don’t want to point the finger at anyone. It will not help us to prove anyone guilty of this,” the devastated family responds.
