Soccer star Lionel Messi made his debut for Inter Miami last night when Miami faced Mexico’s Cruz Azul in the League Cup match. It was a memorable night for Miami fans because Messi scored his team’s winning goal from a free kick in extra time.
In addition to the team’s supporters, numerous public figures were able to celebrate Inter’s victory in the stands. Messi’s debut had attracted American celebrities from sports circles and beyond.
Among the faces familiar to sports fans was a former NFL star Tom Bradytennis star Serena Williams and the NBA LeBron James. Messi got to shake hands with the basketball star before the start of the match.

Bigger than the sports world
Messi’s debut also interested people outside the sports world. Reality star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian was watching the match with his close circle. Kardashian told MLS in an interview that her son is obsessed with soccer.

Inter Miami had supposedly also invested financially in Messi’s debut, when the singer Becky G were invited to perform the US national anthem before the match.
The match finally ended with Miami winning 2–1. Finland Robert Taylor completed the first goal of the match for Miami.
