According to revised figures, the weekly number of unemployment benefits claimed is already below 200,000 for the third week in a row. Even before the outbreak of the corona crisis in the spring of 2020, that number was higher. Weekly numbers of first-time jobless claims are considered an up-to-date indicator of US labor market developments. The decline is a new sign that the labor market is recovering.
