Dow Jones-The number of employees in the United States was lower than previously assumed at the beginning of the second term of office of US President Donald Trump. As the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announced after a benchmark revision, the number of employees in March 2025 was shown by 911,000 lower than before. Analysts had predicted a downward revision by 500,000 to 700.00. The revision is based on the data of the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW). These are data that come from the unemployment insurance reports of employers and cover around 95 percent of the employees.

This data is more precise than those that the BLS publishes per month as part of its Current Employment Statistics (CES). The quality of the CES survey suffers from a declining participation of the companies-especially since Corona pandemic. The final corrected calculation will be published in February, together with the job data for January.
