Because requests for new poultry houses continue to come in, the municipality has drawn up a policy memorandum. This should ensure that chicken farms are better integrated into the landscape and living environment.
“We ask farmers with plans to first visit the municipality,” De Meyer explains. “This way we can look together at how their project can best be realized, and in which locations this can be done. We want to avoid vacant farms remaining unused and new chicken stables being built.”
