After the bankruptcy at Eintracht Frankfurt, VfB Stuttgart has to worry about participating in European business again in the Bundesliga. Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel was frustrated after the away defeat, but at the same time turned the gaze forward.
VfB Stuttgart had to give up in the top game of the Bundesliga on Saturday evening with 0-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Swabians only collected two points in their last six games. The team of head coach Sebastian Hoeneß is therefore currently only tenth.
“It is a damper. We wanted to knock off the buck today. The year 2025 is not going well,” summarized VfB goalkeeper Alexander Nübel at “Sky”.
The lightness of the pre-season is “not there at the moment, as you can see. Where it has stayed, I don’t know either. In the first half of the season we have collected beautiful points and that is missing at the moment,” said the 28-year-old.

“We will look at it again, but quickly clear our heads, because Wednesday is the game of the year for us because we can drive to the cup final,” said Nübel.
VfB Stuttgart will then meet RB Leipzig in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup in their own stadium (Wednesday, 8:45 p.m. in sport.de-Live ticker).
“We have a huge opportunity and a mega game in front of our chest on Wednesday. But of course we want to score points and victories. That’s why it hurts extremely today,” said Nübel on Saturday evening in Frankfurt.
VfB Stuttgart had become a sensational vice champion in the previous season and therefore played in the Champions League, where it ended after the league. After the first half of the season, the Swabians ranked fifth in the Bundesliga in the Bundesliga. In the second half of the season, only eight points have jumped out in ten games.
