NS malfunction lasts longer than expected: no trains are running today

The NS trains were canceled today due to a major technical failure. It was just announced that no trains will run at all today. The malfunction has now been resolved, but due to ‘the aftermath it is not possible that trains will run again’, according to the NS in a press release.

Many travelers got stranded today due to the malfunction at stations or along the road waiting for a taxi or relatives to take them home. And for the hopeful waiting traveller, the wait also got longer. Now that it is clear that there will be no trains at all today, travelers are forced to find other travel alternatives.

“In order to be able to start up reliably, systems must be updated and trains must be brought to the right place. That takes time. This is an extremely annoying message for our travelers,” the NS said in a press release.

NS apologizes

Tjalling Smit, member of the NS Executive Board, apologizes to travelers. “We are well aware that we now make an enormous appeal to the understanding and self-reliance of the traveler. That is not what our travelers can expect from us and are used to from us.”

The NS says it is ‘doing a thorough investigation into the cause’, in order to prevent this incident in the future.
