Due to the rail strike of NS staff in the Midden region, no NS trains will run throughout the country on Friday. The strike stems from a wage conflict of the unions with the Dutch Railways.
According to Schiphol, thousands of passengers and travelers come to the airport by train and it is therefore important that there is good accessibility. Schiphol advises travelers who come by train to take a good look at the travel information before departure.
The trains stand still from Friday 4 am to Saturday 4 am. The Central Region covers the area around Utrecht, a pivot in the rail network. As a result, all NS trains cannot run. Moreover, the planning of the train schedule in Utrecht and the employees who do that also stop.
Staking NS will let trains run during NATO summit and re-exams
In September last year, Schiphol was still right in the preliminary relief judge in Haarlem in summary proceedings against the FNV trade union on the requirement for a minimum timetable between the airport and Amsterdam during a public transport strike.
Minimum timetable to prevent traffic infarction
Schiphol asked for a minimum timetable of four trains per hour to prevent a traffic infarction from resulting in unsafe situations. There were also concerns that emergency services could not reach Schiphol if there is a traffic jam.
