Success for students, teachers, alumni and the census community of SPD, Greens and FDP: The plans for a transmission mast on the Arndt-Gymnasium in Dahlem have been stopped!

“I rejected Telekom’s application today,” said the responsible education councilor for Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Cerstin Richter-Kotowski (60, CDU) on Wednesday at the district assembly.

And: “There will be no mobile phone antenna on the tower of the Arndt-Gymnasium.”

This was preceded by massive protests. In addition to a possible health hazard for the 775 students and 77 teachers, concerns about monument and nature conservation were also mentioned. Criticism had also come from Richter-Kotowski’s party colleague Adrian Grasse (47, CDU).

He had asked the Senate about cell phone coverage for the area. “This does not give any indication of an insufficient supply situation. In this respect, there is no reason why mobile phone antennas have to be set up at this exact location.”
