The prince of darkness wants to know again. In any case, tirelessly on tour with his ghost railway revue “Too Close for Comfort”, Alice Cooper announces the first album with his original band for decades for July 2025. A “Time Warp” back to the early 1970s, free after the “Rocky Horror Picture Show”.
Title of the 14-track opus (plus two bonus songs), whose cover in the style of old scary film cinema cinema is kept: “The Revenge”.
In an interview with the US industry magazine “Billboard”, the 77-year-old says about his late Reunion plate that the recordings had felt as if no time had passed and the band just continued. “As if it were our next album after ‘Muscle of Love’. Simply like that. Isn’t that strange after 50 years? Suddenly everything fits together again.”
Shock-rocker albums
The original buddy troop consists of Michael Bruce (guitar), Dennis Dunaway (bass) and Neal Smith (drums). Also part of the party is the successful producer Bob Ezrin at the time. The Canadian worked alongside Cooper for Lou Reed or Kiss, and he was also behind the controls at Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”.
“None of them have changed as a person,” said Ezrin in the “Billboard”. “Of course everyone has become older and more mature and sedentary. But when I observe the interaction between them, it is as if they were coming on the high school and would hang out in the local café. They return to what they were as kids … and make their music like 50 years ago …”
Bob Ezrin (76) was responsible for the image-defining shock rocker albums: “Killers”, “School’s Out” and “Billion Dollar Babies” before the troop fell apart after “Muscle of Love” except for occasional special shows.
In 2011 they played in the band recording in the “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame”, which led to occasional studio work. Now they are really united again, for bass players Dunaway a “family reunification”.
The album opening track is also the preliminary “Black Mamba”, which brings another legend into play with guitarist Robbie Krieger from The Doors. The song will be published on Coopers online (radio) platform “Alice’s Attic” this Tuesday (April 22nd).
“The Revenge” will be released on July 25th
The Cooper tour with its current stage band continues. On July 5th, in Hanover, he will be guest in Hanover at the 60th birthday of the Scorpions, also Mönchengladbach (July 26th) and Schaffhausen (July 30th) once again headed the guillotine.
