Golf superstar Tiger Woods announces that he is stepping aside from the sport “for a while” to “seek treatment”. Woods was only recently arrested after he crashed on the east coast of the United States in Florida.
Among other things, Woods is accused of drunk driving, as he refused to take a drug test after the accident.
Golf’s 15-time Major champion filed a written plea of not guilty through his lawyers on Tuesday.
This happened after the police report written about the incident was made public.
The report stated that Woods had two hydrocodone pills in his pocket. The opioids in question are used to treat severe pain.
Officers found Woods acting “slowly” and sweating profusely. According to the police, the pupils of Woods’ eyes were “extremely dilated”.
Woods went public for the first time after the scandal when he commented on what happened on his X account.
– I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I am in the middle of. Now I’m stepping aside for a while so I can focus on taking care of my health. This is necessary so that I can prioritize my well-being and work towards a sustainable recovery, Woods stated.
Before his crash, Woods had not ruled out the possibility of him participating in next month’s Masters tournament.
– I am committed to taking the necessary time to come back healthier, stronger and more focused, both personally and professionally, Woods added.
– I appreciate your understanding and support. I am asking for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself during this time.
