Novak Djokovic makes successful return to ATP Tour, Casper Ruud takes ticket for Turin | Sport

Novak Djokovic has made a successful comeback on the ATP Tour. The Serb reached the quarterfinals in Tel Aviv by beating Spaniard Pablo Andujar 6-0 and 6-3.

Djokovic won Wimbledon in July and then only played in the Laver Cup last week. This is a competition between the best tennis players in Europe and the best tennis players from the rest of the world. Djokovic missed the US Open because he has not been vaccinated against the corona virus. That was a requirement to participate.

The 35-year-old Djokovic, who has dropped to seventh place in the world ranking, will play against the Canadian Vasek Pospisil in the quarterfinals.

Ruud to ATP Finals

Where Djokovic is not yet sure of participating in the ATP Finals, Casper Ruud has already received his ticket. The Norwegian number 2 in the world reached the quarterfinals of the Korean Open in Seoul and has now collected enough points.

Ruud, who was a losing finalist this year at Roland Garros and the US Open, beat Chilean Nicolas Jarry in three sets: 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

The Spaniards Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal were already certain of a place at the ATP Finals, which take place in Turin from 13 to 20 November.
