All of our lives are shaped by opposing forces and the struggle between good and evil – IMMI can literally sing a song or two about it. In recent months he has made a name for himself with millions of streamed tracks such as “lockdown”, “paranoid” and “wieder leer”. Now his Debut EP ISYANS & DRAMAS appeared, which lets you look even deeper into the soul of the Kreuzberg rapper.
From the mental struggle in the jungle of Berlin
He borrowed his stage name from the word “immigrant”. The Berlin artist with Turkish roots not only addresses his migration background in his songs, but also deals with identification difficulties, a lack of acceptance in society and the associated mental struggle.
Six tracks on ISYANS & DRAMAS deal with the conflict between good and evil, the little angel and the devil on the shoulders, but also the interplay of shadow and light. Life is a frenzy and so birthdays have to be even rougher than usual. “Blau zu Grau” in particular is a real banger that takes the listener on a gloomy foray through Berlin Kreuzberg: “You go to sleep, I’m going out yeah “.

Honest German rap that lets you look deeper
IMMI fights most battles with itself, which looks like an endless party to outsiders. However, lines like “Brudi is hungover/again with Satan in a hole” show that these are more excuses and distractions, as many of us are probably familiar with. However, the song “Painkiller” also reveals another side of the rapper: “You numb me like drugs” – the search for love also sounds like this in the impressive debut.
Isyan means rebellion in Turkish. Coupled with the word “drama”, IMMI musically describes what’s raging inside him. In addition to his regular producers Babyblue & Blurry, he also worked with The Cratez on the recordings. The gloomy artwork, which is a bit reminiscent of “Stranger Things”, also fits the theme of the release that fans have been waiting for.
