Robert Lewandowski’s contract with series champions FC Bayern is “only” valid until the end of June 2023. A circumstance that fuels speculation about a possible farewell after the current season. But one of the supposedly interested parties is apparently already thinking of a plan B.

If FC Bayern has its way, Robert Lewandowski will not be on the market in the upcoming transfer phase. The record champions from Munich definitely want to keep their world footballer.

However, the executive floor around CEO Oliver Kahn has not been very specific so far, so theoretically the last chance to collect a transfer fee for the exceptional talent is in the summer.

It is no coincidence that the rumors have increased recently. The Spanish newspaper “Sport” claimed, for example, that Lewandowski had already decided to move to FC Barcelona. Supposedly he could sign a pension contract there until 2026.

Will FC Barcelona strike in England?

“Bild” contradicted that description shortly thereafter, although the tabloid also emphasized that FC Bayern had not yet had any contract talks with Lewandowski. His advisor Pini Zahavi is said to be in contact with various clubs.

According to the “Daily MailAs a precaution, FC Barcelona is already looking around for alternatives if a transfer from Robert Lewandowski cannot actually be realized. According to this, Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal FC has become the focus of the Catalans.

Until the winter, Lacazette was team-mates with ex-Dortmunder Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who had canceled his contract in London to sign in Barcelona. Lacazette’s contract with the Gunners expires in the summer, so he would be available on a free transfer.
