The image of Rob Kemps is crumbling further and further. After the riots about his shouting and his talk show, he is now under fire for ‘abandoning’ his family.
Rob Kemps once seemed to be the promise of Hilversum. He made an impression with his performances in De Slimste Mens and his TV collaboration with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, but that has all gone downhill fast. His shouting matches behind the scenes caused a riot, just like his exposure as a ventriloquist dummy in De 10 Questions.
Affair with dancer?
And now it has come to light through Yvonne Coldeweijer that Rob has left his family with two very young children. Why? According to the juice queen for an adventure with backup dancer Stephanie Klaver, the sister of Kimberley and Melody Klaver. “She is a bit known for it in showbiz,” says Yvonne.
The alleged affair has not been confirmed by Rob, but his breakup has been. “This could never have been the intention of these people. They have just started a family with two young children. This has of course never been the deal, so what suddenly happened there…”, says Private journalist Jan Uriot in the podcast Strictly Private.
‘Pr-technically clumsy’
Co-host Jordi Versteegden thinks it’s a missed opportunity that Rob has not taken control into his own hands, but is guided by Yvonne’s revelations. “It is striking, because there were indeed all kinds of rumors about that dancer. Only then did they come up with the statement that they have separated.”
He continues: “I don’t think that’s very practical from a PR point of view, because I think it’s better to walk ahead of the crowd, instead of reacting afterwards, because now it’s up in the air and I’m wondering one more thing : will it still affect his image of a cozy family man who goes from left to right?”
Image under pressure
According to the gentlemen, Rob’s image seems to be under pressure. “We have to wait and see. Maybe he should be a bit clearer, that he is going to call us and give us an explanation,” says Jan.
We should give him the benefit of the doubt, he says. “Perhaps there is no dancer at all, but she has cheated with the milkman. You don’t know that, do you? He just has to explain all that.”
