The statement published on Instagram caused an uproar, after which Heinonen apologized on social media for his words to JYP, but not to the rape victim.
– I apologize JYP if I branded you with my comments, but at the same time I defended a beaten man who has not been beaten yet, Poju wrote in the stories section of Instagram.
The man was also in contact with JYP’s CEO Risto Korpela.
– Poju called me and apologized for what he said, just as he has apologized on his own social media channels, says Korpela.
What do you think of what Poju said?
– It was not an elegant statement in any way.
Hotel Kaustinen canceled Poju’s gig planned for Saturday next week (October 21) due to the uproar.
– Poju’s statements and comments are not in line with our company’s values, and we do not want to support attitudes, actions or comments like this, the hotel announced on social media.
Poju’s music has been played at JYP’s home games for years. For example, a man’s song Whoops is the legendary goal song of the Jyväskylä club.
Are you going to play Poju’s songs at JYP’s home games in the future?
– We’ll see. We have gone over the matter with the office team, but no decisions have been made yet. There have been a few bigger issues here that need to be clarified, Korpela states and refers to the case of Lahtinen.
Has Lahtinen’s case progressed within the club?
– Not yet, but we are trying to move forward with it as soon as possible. We will publish announcements when things move forward, says Korpela.
The CEO did not want to comment further on Lahtinen’s case.
JYP allowed Lahtinen to play Liiga games, even though the man was accused of rape in the district court. The club shelved the player when he received a two-year prison sentence on Tuesday.
The judgment is not binding. Lahtinen plans to appeal his sentence to the Court of Appeal.
