There is plenty to do in the park. For example, there are volunteers at old peat houses who can tell something about the history, pastries are baked and oliebollen are sold. “Nice Christmas atmosphere,” says Keuter.
Exel has now walked into the church: “Just take a look at the choir that sings there.”
The Christmas village in the Veenpark has been a tradition for a quarter of a century. It started with 400 visitors, which was further expanded. Volunteer Peter van der Weide has been with the club for ten years and today tells people something about the church in the village.
“I actually do it every year because it is so much fun. We also dress up, so I am a chaplain, a kind of priest. I can really play someone else for once, that is also nice,” says Van der Weide .
