North Korea accuses UN chief of bias

North Korea’s foreign ministry criticized UN chief Antonio Guterres on Sunday for his statements about the country’s nuclear program. On Friday, Guterres said he fully supports denuclearization of North Korea after speaking with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol.

“I cannot but express my deep regret at the comments of the UN Secretary-General, which show a gross lack of impartiality and fairness and go against the obligations of his office, as enshrined in the UN Charter, if the the Korean peninsula,” said a deputy minister of the North Korean foreign ministry.

North Korea has tested a record number of missiles in the past year. Seoul and Washington say it appears the country is getting ready to conduct a nuclear weapons test for the first time since 2017.
