For the 2025 season, the driver field in Formula 1 has changed significantly. These drivers want to fight for the World Cup.
Formula 1 has six new faces to offer in the 2025 season. After numerous contracts had expired last year, the driver carousel was lively. With Lewis Hamilton, even the record world champion changed the Mercedes team to Ferrari in late autumn of his career.
With Kimi Antonelli, Isack Hadjar, Jack Doohan, Oliver Bearman, Gabriel Bortoleto and Liam Lawson, six young stars go to their first entire season in the premier class of motorsport. Especially for Antonelli, who replaces Hamilton at Mercedes, and Lawson, who starts at the side of world champion Max Verstappen in Red Bull, the pressure is one year one year. Performance is required for the top teams – and Red Bull in particular has shown himself to be very squeamish in the past when it was about exchanging weak drivers during a current season.
In the World Cup fight, too, tension announces. The dominance of the Red Bull and thus also from Verstappen has been over since last season. McLaren goes into the season as a top favorite-and has two high-talented drivers with Lando Norris and Oscar Piatri, both of whom are targeting the World Cup title. The Verstappen, who has already proven in the past, would like to prevent the best car has not needed to win. Ferrari with Charles Leclerc and record world champion Hamilton also hopes to be able to lead one of her drivers to the title.
So it promises to be an exciting season before the comprehensive rules of rule for the 2026 season could swirl the power structure. You can see the entire driver field of the current season here or in the photo show above.
