As of: November 25, 2023 10:04 a.m

Terence Weber has achieved an excellent position before cross-country skiing at the Nordic Combined World Cup in Ruka. Jarl Magnus Riiber leads the classification after jumping.

The eight-time world champion showed a picture-perfect jump of 143.5 meters on Saturday. Johannes Lamparter starts the 10-kilometer race in the classic Gundersen method 32 seconds behind (live on Sportschau from 2:10 p.m.). The Austrian overall World Cup winner from last season jumped the same distance, but also had a bit more run-up.

The best German after jumping is Terence Weber, who confirmed his good performance from the previous day and sailed to 142.5 meters. The 27-year-old starts the race in third place, 1:10 minutes behind.

Schmid significantly improved

Julian Schmid struggled with his form from the jump on Friday, but this time he went much better with 138 meters. Last winter’s World Cup third-place finisher goes into the cross-country trail in eighth place, 2:04 minutes behind, but thanks to his good running form he can hope for the top places. David Mach is currently 14th (+2:56 minutes), Johannes Rydzek in 18th (+3:28) has to start catching up again like the day before.

Olympic champion Vinzenz Geiger also lost a good starting position. After a jump of 119 meters, the Oberstdorfer, who is still in poor health, goes into the afternoon race with a mortgage of over four minutes. Wendelin Thannheimer starts directly in front of him. Things went even worse for Manuel Faisst, who is only 29th with 112.5 meters. Tristan Sommerfeldt only starts in 50th place.

On Friday, at the premiere of the newly introduced “Compact Race”, Rydzek narrowly missed out on the podium after a strong comeback in fourth place. Norway’s Jens Luras Oftebro secured victory ahead of his compatriots Riiber and Jörgen Graabak.
