Three Germans among the top seven: The DSV combiners once again showed themselves in top form at the World Cup final. The air was only out at Vinzenz Geiger.
It was a season full of success for the German combiners who also let it go at the season finale. At the last World Cup of the Nordic combiners in Lahti in Finnish, Julian Schmid ran onto the podium.
Second, but somehow sad. Schmid gave everything at the season finale on Saturday (22.03.2025), but the Austrian Johannes Lamparter was simply better. With his second victory in a row, Lamparter made third place in the overall World Cup. Schmid only remained the ungrateful fourth place.
Violinist with the next catch -up hunt
In contrast, Vinzenz Geiger beamed with the sun. His last competition this season was not exactly the first cream, ended in the 15th place, but did not change the first overall victory for the Oberstdorfer. The victory was already certain after the early end of the season by Jarl Magnus Riiber (Norway) before the last World Cup weekend.
Geiger received the large crystal ball for the first time as the best combinator of the winter. The frustration over the weakness on the ski jump in Lahti was quickly evaporated. As on Friday, Geiger did not cope, again only in 28th place. While he was still fourth on Friday, 24 hours later the legs were heavier and the head was tired.
Geiger was only the sixth best German combiner. The protégés of national coach Eric Frenzel once again shone with a top team performance. In addition to Schmid, Terence Weber (6th place), Johannes Rydzek (7th), Wendelin Tannheimer (9th) were still in the top ten in the last race of the season.
Stenzel – A youngster trumps up
And the German noko future is already ready: Richard Stenzel from SC Motor Zella -Mehlis – already strong 19th yesterday – shone again. After jumping strongly sixth, the 19-year-old lost a few places on the route, but was happy about the 13th place. Thanks to the bronze medal at the Junior World Cup, the Thuringian got its exclusive, personal World Cup ticket and will also be part of the World Cup team in the coming season.
Mach brothers need catch up
The World Cup was also something special for David and Simon Mach. Simon is usually in the B team. At the season finale, the two Machs were allowed to prove themselves in the first division – but had nothing to do with the decision.
