Director Norbert ter Hall and screenwriter Robert Alberdingk Thijm, who co-wrote the hit series A’dam-EVA made, go the debut novel The Boy Who Jumped Off a Cliff film by writer Stefan Raatgever. Their production house Willy Waltz International has bought the rights for a series from publisher Luitingh-Sijthoff.

They announced this on Sunday on the last day of the Cannes festival. The book is about 19-year-old high school student Alec, whose shaky existence is shaken up just before graduation by the arrival of a new classmate. The maladjusted Björn arouses feelings in Alec that he has managed to hide until then.

Ter Hall and Alberdingk Thijm previously developed and co-produced with their production house the feature film Mi Vidawith Loes Luca in the lead role, and the film adaptation of the novel The Promise of Pisa by Mano Bouzamour. It is not yet known when the series will go into production.

At the moment the duo is still working on the series best seller boy, based on another book by Bouzamour. This should be shown on television next spring.
