To the tunes of ‘Power to the People’ by Patti Smith, the demonstrators started their march through Brussels. Employees from the care, welfare and culture sector want to move forward. They want better wages, better working conditions and more people in the workplace, because the work pressure is still very high.

“Today we are telling the government to continue investing, even after the pandemic. We don’t want to go back to the past, where we went forward step by step. We want a clear investment plan for the future and the governments will have to find a budget for that. But society is worth it,” says Mark Selleslach, general coordinator for the non-profit sector at ACV Puls.

The appreciation they want should not only come from applause during the corona pandemic. Now that that is somewhat behind us, they are drawing continued attention to the non-profit sector, so that people do not leave and their work remains attractive in all areas.

Protest signs were seen in the audience with inscriptions such as “you don’t care, but our bucket is full” or “succumb to forfeits”. In addition, there were many flags with the inscription “White Fury”. A reference to the white work clothes of the people in care centers and hospitals.
