Nómada Beach (Sitges) makes the best beach bar cover of 2022

  • The local Garraf, next to the port of l’Aiguadolç, wins the contest in which almost thirty locals from all over the Catalan coast have participated this summer

Nomad Beach (Sitges) has been declared the winner of the contest best beach bar cover in Catalonia thanks to your ‘charcoal’ squid: farmhouse sourdough bread dipped in squid ink and dried in an oven that simulated charcoal, Barbastro tomato cut into ‘brunoise’ on top to recall the fire of an ember and, crowning the whole, a little squid in its ink grilled, all seasoned with a little romesco sauce and black ‘allioli’.

The competition had begun at the beginning of summer between almost thirty establishments along the coast, which until August 28 were serving a dish paired with a Damm Lemon. Customers voted via the web for the one they liked the most, and from there came the five best that reached the final played this Monday in the old Estrella Damm factory.

five finalists

A jury made up of professionals from the sector has assessed the tapas of the five finalists: in addition to the aforementioned little squid Nomad Beachthe soft anchovies in vinegar of Bar d’Amunt (Cholera); grilled rock mussels with an addictive minced garlic, parsley and ñora de Chiringuito Cala Montjoi (Cala Montjoi beach, in Roses); camembert pops and tomato jam from Chalito (Castelldefels) and the elaborate and original ‘twister’ of shrimp marinated in beer with lemon and fried squid with Sweet Chili Mango sauce from Ibiza (Vilanova i la Geltrú).
