At Hopbel in Poperinge it was today the last day of an intensive harvest period that lasted more than three weeks. “We have a bit more yield than last year, but last year it wasn’t really a good year,” says Bart Boeraeve van Hopbel Poperinge. “If we look at the bitter acids – which determine the bitterness in the beer – we are on average. But the aroma is very rich. The hops are sticky and contains a lot of oil, so many arom materials. We thank that to the many hours of sunshine this year.”
