After last Friday’s 3-2 victory, Knack Roeselare went to Limburg with confidence. It also started much better than the match last week in Maaseik. At 11-12 the Limburg coach intervened briefly. With success. Sil Meijs came on serve and served the home team to 18-12. The decisive gap in set one, which was ultimately won 25-17 by Maaseik.

The home team smelled blood and also advanced towards 15-11 at the beginning of the second set. Knack also seemed to give up, but just then main attacker Basil Dermaux recovered. With impressive serves he brought Roeselare to 15-19. The West Flemish team did not give it away anymore, 20-25 and the scores were level again.

Knack started the third set with new courage, but disaster struck Pieter Coolman at 7-6. In possibly his last match, he had to leave the field with an injured ankle. Maaseik took advantage of the moment and pushed through to 13-10.

Roeselare fought its way to 14-13, but then the Limburgers gained steam again and the scoreboard went to 22-13 in no time. The third set went to Maaseik and Knack once again had its back against the wall.

In set four, the Limburgers did not succumb to the stress of finishing it this time and won convincingly with 25-15. The national title goes to Maaseik, Knack is left with two BeNe prizes.
