Trump plan to call Putin soon
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he will soon speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Yes, I am going to do that,” Trump told a journalist after he had spoken with the Ukrainian President Zelenski and European leaders earlier in the day.
During a consultation of the so -called coalition of willing countries in Paris, a group of 26 countries promised on Thursday that it wanted to contribute to security guarantees for Ukraine after the war.
After the consultation, several European leaders called Trump. In that telephone conversation, possible extra sanctions for oil and gas against Russia would have been discussed, reported Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
Spokesperson for the Kremlin, Dmitri Peskov, said that no preparations have yet been made for a conversation between Trump and Putin, but that a conversation could be arranged quickly.
Peskov said to the Russian state news agency Ria that Ukraine security guarantees cannot be delivered by foreign troops.
