No Motocross World Championship for Coldenhoff after all: broken rib and concussion

One day before the Motocross World Championship, the end of the story is for Glenn Coldenhoff from Oss. The motocross rider crashed hard on Saturday during the qualifying race. He broke his rib and suffered a concussion. “He will no longer be in action this weekend,” reports the Royal Dutch Motorcyclists Association (KNMV).

The motocross rider would appear at the start of the Motocross of Nations, the world championship for national teams, on Sunday, together with Calvin Vlaanderen and Kay de Wolf. All three motocross riders from Brabant wanted to have a shot at a podium place, but that is no longer possible for Coldenhoff.

“Coldenhoff came into contact with Isak Gifting during the qualifying heat and crashed hard,” the motorcycle association explains. “Due to Glenn’s withdrawal, only Calvin and Kay will be at the start on Sunday.”

Coldenhoff was the best Dutchman in the MXGP last season and has now been assured of a new two-year contract at the highest level. This week he told Omroep Brabant that he had confidence in Sunday’s match. “If all three of us have a good day, we can definitely get on the podium. That would be really great!” said Coldenhoff.
