One of them is 79-year-old Frank Jansen, who in the past made the program Palace for a Prikkie for the same channel together with his troubled ex Rogier Smit.

Frank likes the fact that he is still considered interesting enough for TV even without Rogier. “No, no Rogier. That is really in the past. It was also a nice period, don’t get me wrong, but it is behind me. The fact that I can now come back without Rogier also feels like a recognition in some way,” he says in Weekend.
Together with Rogier he has earned tons of money from their TV adventure. “The nice thing is… when you are almost eighty, you no longer participate in this society, do you? Then you are an elderly person. But I can still send invoices! That is a wonderful feeling, I must say.”
Hourly rate
What is Rogier’s hourly rate? “Well, of course I’m not a cheap guy. They did have to beg a bit. And then I started negotiating, which is always the most fun thing there is. That game, that tension…”
He concludes: “I will not let myself be pushed into a box, not even by the television bosses.”
