No effective prison sentences for suspects after aggression against Manchester City fan

The facts took place at the end of 2021. In the parking lot of a gas station along the E40 in Drongen, a 22-year-old man takes the scarf from the victim. Then a 24-year-old companion gives a blow that causes the Manchester City fan to fall on the back of his head and end up in a coma.

The victim is still recovering.

Community service

Both perpetrators have now been sentenced to three years in prison with a suspended sentence. The three other defendants will receive a community service order of 90 hours and a fine of 8,000 euros with suspension for culpable neglect.

So no one should actually go to prison.
