The guitarist was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease. He still wants to play all the Sphere shows in Las Vegas.
No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont has revealed in a video on Instagram that he has been diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease.
The announcement comes shortly before the band’s return to the stage: From May 6, 2025, No Doubt will play twelve shows at the Sphere in Las Vegas – the group’s first concerts in 14 years.
“It’s a fight every day”
In the Insta video, Tom Dumont said that he had noticed symptoms for several years, after which he visited a doctor and a neurologist and carried out several examinations. “I was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease. It’s a battle, every day,” the musician said in the clip. He announced further details about his symptoms for a follow-up video.
At the same time, Dumont emphasized that he could continue to play guitar and would take part in all planned Sphere shows. “I’m doing really well,” he says. He also said he hopes his openness will reduce stigma and raise awareness of the condition – which he said is important for prevention and research.
Bandmates respond with support
Tom Dumont’s colleagues Adrian Young and Tony Kanal commented on the video with encouragement. Kanal wrote that he couldn’t wait to be on stage with Dumont again. Tom Dumont has been the band’s guitarist since 1988.
No Doubt are returning after a long break
The Las Vegas shows mark No Doubt’s first regular touring series in over a decade. The band last performed together at the Coachella Festival in April 2024. With the Sphere residency, No Doubt also become the first band with a lead singer to perform in the technologically complex venue in Las Vegas.
Frontwoman Gwen Stefani described the Coachella comeback in 2024 as a spontaneous development in an interview. She explained that the long break was not consciously planned, but arose due to private circumstances.
