ERC Ingolstadt has registered back in the playoff semi-final of the German ice hockey league against the Cologne Haie: The Upper Bavaria beat the Rhinelanders 3: 0 (1: 0, 1: 0, 1: 0) and thus shortened to 2: 3 in the series.
The ERC Ingolstadt is still alive. In the best-of-Seven series against the Cologne sharks, the Upper Bavaria shortened 3: 0 (1: 0, 1: 0, 1: 0) in their own hall to 2: 3 and pulled their head out of the loop again.
In the event of a defeat, Cologne would have been the final opponent of the Eisbären Berlin. This is how it comes to game six on Monday, which Ingolstadt also has to win to force the decisive seventh game and get the chance to get the final. For their part, the Cologne team have the next opportunity to move back to the DEL final for the first time since 2014.
Penalty time festival and dominant Ingolstadt
Daniel Schmölz (20th minute) as well as overnight Austen Keating (37th) and Mathew Bodie in the empty goal (58th) scored the goals for the hosts. The main round winner came back after three defeats after the last three defeats.
In an entertaining first third with a total of six penalty times, Schmölz poked the puck shortly before the break into the Cologne goal. The Eisbären Berlin are waiting for Ingolstadt or Cologne in the final. In the other semi-final series, the master had clearly prevailed 4-0 against the Adler Mannheim.
