‘No chemistry with Hélène Hendriks’

Özcan Akyol is the main reason why Hélène Hendriks got off to such a slow start during the first broadcast week of De Oranjezomer, according to Victor Vlam. “I give him a 5.”

Hélène Hendriks has been posting very good viewing figures for three weeks now as the presenter of the summer VI replacement De Oranjezomer. The presenter is doing considerably better than her predecessor Marcel & Gijs. According to Victor Vlam, she did get off to a slow start; the media connoisseur found her a bit disappointing in the first week.

‘He did it less’

In retrospect, Victor thinks it also had a bit to do with Özcan Akyol. He was Hélène’s regular sidekick in the first week of broadcasting. “Eus is, of course, one of the most popular talk show guests in newsrooms. According to Tina Nijkamp, he always scores very well, so he is very often invited to actually all the talk shows out there.”

He continues in his podcast The Communicados: “I have to be honest: I think he always does a fantastic job at Today Inside. He really has great added value at the table, but unfortunately he really did much less at the Oranjezomer.”

Ozcan gets a 5

Why does Victor think that? “He was a bit absent, it all seemed to go on autopilot and he just had no chemistry with Hélène Hendriks. And that’s why I have to be strict. That first week of De Oranjezomer, it just didn’t work out and that is largely due to Eus. That is why I unfortunately give it a 5.”

Hélène clearly felt more comfortable in the second week of broadcasting with Rutger Castricum as host, says Victor. “I have to tell you very honestly: I think he did incredibly well at De Oranjezomer. I really liked his work there and that’s because he’s someone who has really nice chemistry with several of the guys.”

8 for Rutgers

It is a striking opinion of Victor, because he really sawed off Rutger at the ankles earlier. “I have been very critical of Rutger Castricum in the past, because as a guest at Today Inside I always thought he was a huge slime ball and stuff and then I was really annoyed by him.”

All in all, Rutger gets an 8 from Victor. Last week Fidan Ekiz sat next to Hélène. The week-end captivated 762 thousand viewers (19 percent) last night, while Renze’s season finale had 677 thousand (19 percent). In the coming month, De Oranjezomer will be the only talk show on Dutch television.
