Setback for Eintracht Frankfurt
DFB player injured – threatens to end the season after surgery
April 3, 2026 – 4:57 p.mReading time: 1 min.

Nnamdi Collins is under coach Albert Riera. But the German international will have to watch in the coming weeks.
The U21 national player Nnamdi Collins suffered an ankle injury in the 1:2 against FSV Mainz 05 and underwent surgery. Coach Albert Riera no longer expects to be able to use the defender this season.
Riera said on Friday: “He has had an operation, it will be difficult. It would be a miracle if he could still play.” Jean-Mattéo Bahoya will also not be available against 1. FC Köln on Sunday (from 5:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online) – he is missing due to a thigh problem.
After the setback in Mainz, Riera reported that he worked harder on the “balance between long and short balls”. Through more variability he wants to create “more space” and solve the offensive problems. In the last three games, Eintracht only managed two goals.
Riera was still confident: “I’m sure we’ll get more chances in the next games.” Playing with two strikers is “an option”. But he emphasized: “We have three variants that we play and we can change them during the game.” He could “promise no points and no trophies, but that the players on the field know exactly what they should do.”
