This year’s Grammy Awards will be held on February 4th at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles. This year, the “Special Merit Awards” will be presented in four categories for extraordinary achievements. In three of these categories, the winners have already been announced.

This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Nirvana, Bobby McFerrin, Ma Rainey, Nile Rodgers, Slick Rick, The Supremes and Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson.

The “Trustees GRAMMY Award” is given to personalities who have rendered outstanding services to the music industry without appearing artistically themselves. It goes to photographer Henry Diltz, jazz pianist and music professor Ellis Marsalis and Stax Records founder Jim Stewart.

Organizations can also receive the “Technical Grammy Award” for special services in the field of music production. This year it goes to The Audio Engineering Society (AES), an organization for the targeted promotion of technical developments in music production and Dr. Andy Hildebrand, inventor of the Auto-Tune program.

The winner of the last “Special Merit Award” in the category “Best Song For Social Change” has not yet been announced.
