Nina Chuba calls Shirin David’s everyday life quixotic and criticizes her management – the fans hit back. Read all the details about the podcast scandal now.
Is there stress between Nina Chuba and Shirin David now? Shirin David’s fans are outraged by the German pop singer’s statements.
Nina Chuba has often judged one or two German music stars together with her bandmate Momme Hitzemann in her podcast “Die Leute Lieben das”. Now she also commented on the Netflix biopic about Shirin David.
“Nobody cares”
Chuba explains that the documentary portrays being a star on a level that she can no longer identify with. She criticizes Shirin David’s concern about not being able to move freely and her isolation from real life and other people.
The singer is of the opinion: “As a public figure in Germany, you can really go anywhere. You can go to the train station, to the sports class, to the hairdresser, you can go shopping. Especially in Berlin – nobody cares [dt.: interessiert keinen].”
Chuba thinks you don’t always have to be dressed up, as Shirin shows in her documentary. She says that no one will notice her if she dresses normally or relaxed – and that Shirin should try that too instead of always wearing a stage outfit and full make-up.
Headwind for Chuba’s criticism
For this, Chuba faces considerable backlash: She is accused of not taking the stalking problems that Shirin reports on in the documentary seriously. Many also note that Shirin David would also be recognized without make-up and without style.
Because the rapper has a completely different fan base and a different standing than Nina Chuba. She has made a brand out of her demeanor and appearance. Shirin David is already something of a fictional character – that’s why she can’t afford to just step out onto the street in sweatpants. Comparing the number of followers of both musicians on Instagram also makes this clear: Shirin David has six million fans, while Nina Chuba has around 900,000.
Criticism of management
Chuba also criticizes the rapper’s management and compares it to her own. Tours are planned two years in advance, and the expectation of performing is definitely on you. However, it was always clear to her that if she wasn’t feeling well at all, there was always the option of canceling. She condemns the statements of Shirin’s manager, who stated that he was dependent on Shirin’s success. After all, he has already earned millions from the rapper – so it is more important to pay attention to her mental health.
In the podcast, bandmate Hitzemann and Chuba are also disappointed with how Shirin David’s psychological problems and her compulsion to be a perfectionist are handled. They remind the listener that there is also psychotherapeutic advice for stars and well-known personalities, which is treated confidentially.
Chuba’s wishes to Shirin David
They also complain that Shirin’s everyday life only consists of dealing with himself. Chuba says that she felt the same way around her album release and found it terrible to focus exclusively on herself and her own public appearance. Both wish the singer contacts and friends who are not on her payroll, as well as a hobby that has nothing to do with the show and music business.
Nina Chuba comments on Shirin’s perfectionism in live shows: “I wish that she would have the feeling of being completely free on stage.”
